A lot can happen in three months…

What can happen in three months, you ask? Well…

You can start selling tickets to a huge charity event
You can make a stupid video for said charity event
You can get engaged
You can set a wedding date and start planning like mad
You can help an AWESOME company with their SXSW booth
You can buy your first comic book
You can start a new tabletop RPG campaign
You can join a new DnD campaign
You can find your next video game obsession

But you most certainly CANNOT blog with regularity. It is forbidden.

Re-re-rededication

How many times have I said I’m going to start blogging regularly again?

Add one to that count.

So many things have happened since my last post that I’ve got quite a few posts to make to catch up. My recent vacation/recharge really made me want to rededicate myself to enjoying my life. I’ve been working like crazy for many months, both at my real job and with SideQuest/RTX, so I want to get back to having fun by playing more video games, reading books, blogging, etc. Step one is going to be creating a gaming schedule. I want to plan out when and what I play, and do so in a way that I optimize my enjoyment. I also want to recap RTX and SideQuest, as well as my vacation. As far as books go, I’ve finally started building my digital library via Amazon’s Kindle store, and I’m working my way through several books. I’m also looking into ComiXology as a way to keep up with comics, but I think that might end up being a bit too expensive of a habit for me.

So basically, you’ll be seeing more of me over the next few weeks/months. At least until football season starts. Then we all know where I’ll be!

PS: I’m also going to finally kill the absurd thought that I’m actually going to build a website from the ground up. It turns out WordPress is way more than a blogging platform (Thanks Kraft!) and can do some awesome stuff, so I’m going to explore what I can do within that framework and probably move all of this over to the root of thetexbot.com instead of having it reside at /blog

My Defective Immune System

So, I am sick yet again. This time it is somewhat expected, with the organized cesspool/school starting again. I almost always get sick at the start of a new semester, in some form or another. In this case, I caught a stomach bug that has been kicking my ass for the last day and a half.

What I don’t understand is why I get sick now, but NEVER got sick in high school. Through my four years of high school, I never missed a day due to illness (Or was that junior high? I don’t remember exactly. Either way, I didn’t miss many days, if any). Yet over my college career, I have missed more days than I can count.

I figure a combination of things may be to blame. First off, there are far more people (and therefore far more sick people) here at UT than back in high school.

Second, I assume I am a bit more conservative when it comes to attending classes while ill than my parents. I can remember a few times that I thought I was sick, but was still sent to school anyway.

I suppose another reason could be not getting the proper nutrition, though I really don’t eat any worse than I did back in high school, so I can’t blame that.

Lastly, my immune system could just be defective. Maybe it was in tip top shape in high school, but will just head downhill from here on out.

So in short, I have no idea why I get sick so often. What I do know is that I hate being sick. I hate feeling useless. I hate letting down my co-workers, professors, classmates, etc. I’m not good with being lazy against my will. Not at all.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I believe daytime TV on TBS is calling.
