Re-re-rededication

How many times have I said I’m going to start blogging regularly again?

Add one to that count.

So many things have happened since my last post that I’ve got quite a few posts to make to catch up. My recent vacation/recharge really made me want to rededicate myself to enjoying my life. I’ve been working like crazy for many months, both at my real job and with SideQuest/RTX, so I want to get back to having fun by playing more video games, reading books, blogging, etc. Step one is going to be creating a gaming schedule. I want to plan out when and what I play, and do so in a way that I optimize my enjoyment. I also want to recap RTX and SideQuest, as well as my vacation. As far as books go, I’ve finally started building my digital library via Amazon’s Kindle store, and I’m working my way through several books. I’m also looking into ComiXology as a way to keep up with comics, but I think that might end up being a bit too expensive of a habit for me.

So basically, you’ll be seeing more of me over the next few weeks/months. At least until football season starts. Then we all know where I’ll be!

PS: I’m also going to finally kill the absurd thought that I’m actually going to build a website from the ground up. It turns out WordPress is way more than a blogging platform (Thanks Kraft!) and can do some awesome stuff, so I’m going to explore what I can do within that framework and probably move all of this over to the root of thetexbot.com instead of having it reside at /blog

Well that went as expected…

So that whole “Blog more” thing lasted all of what, three days? A week? Yep. Par for the course!

In lieu of blogging here I’ve been spending a ton of time on my other project, RT SideQuest. We’re gearing up for RTX in July, and I’m trying to get some helpful content out to the community.

In case you don’t know, I’m a helper. Meaning, if I know something that I think can help you out, I’m going to do everything in my power to ensure that you know what I know. That’s why I’ve been so gung-ho on SideQuest lately, because I have a wealth of knowledge about Austin that I need to pass on to thousands of people! A daunting task, for sure, but I’m up for it.

In other news, I think I’m going to try and rein in my gaming habits a bit. I’m going to start only buying games that I REALLY want to play, instead of every single one that sounds like fun. That’ll save me both money and time in the long run. I’ll keep my GameFly subscription for games that I don’t NEED to play at launch. I’ve already pruned my list of MUST HAVE games through December, and I’m quite happy with it. The list is as follows:

NCAA 13
Borderlands 2 (Ultimate Loot Chest Edition)
Halo 4 (Limited Edition)
Wii U

Of course, that is subject to change a bit, and doesn’t include downloadable games and DLC addons. But on the retail side of things, there just isn’t a lot that I’m looking forward to.

Granted, I WILL be spending a boatload of money on travel and lodging for PAX, so I guess that counts against me. So much for saving money!

Back in the Saddle

And that refers to more than just the fact that I’m playing Red Dead Redemption again.

Finally, I should have the time to begin blogging again, and it begins this weekend with RTX!

In addition to blogging, I’ll also start working on TexBot again. Hopefully he’ll be up and running next week to comment on new E3 news!
